OKC — Oklahoma City — The newest comedy club in the Oklahoma City area will be open this summer.
It opened on Saturday at the Oklahoma Comedy Club, the venue where comedian James Gregory is from.
Gregory has been performing regularly at Okc for more than 15 years, and said he is excited to be opening the club with his longtime friend and co-host, comedian Erica Watson.
Watson, a frequent guest at OkC, said the venue will be similar to the ones she performs at at her own Comedy Club.
She said she has seen some great performers come and go, but the experience will be a lot more fun for her and her guests.
“She said she is excited about the opportunity to be a part of this new club because we have seen the energy of our community growing,” she said.
“We have a really large audience.
We have a large fan base.”
The venue will feature an open mic, open bar and outdoor seating.
Tickets will go on sale June 1.
Grews is the co-owner of the Oklahoma-based comedy club, which was started by his brother and sister.
His father, Billy Grews, is the founder of the club.
“This is really exciting to be coming to Oklahoma City to be part of something that is so unique and new,” he said.
The club will have live comedy, live improv, and comedy games.
Tickets are $12 and can be purchased online at the OKC Comedy Club website.
Wyatt, a longtime friend of Gregories, said she and other members will be welcoming a wide variety of performers, but they will focus on the performers who have performed the best at Oktogany, where the two started the club, over a decade ago.GREGORIES PASTLY AWAKE at Okmoyc OKC-based comedians are taking to social media to welcome the new comedy club.
A few months ago, I was in a bar and we had a huge audience and a lot of new faces, and theres a lot to learn about the industry, I thought to myself.
But weve gotten to know the best of the best.
And theres so much to learn, so were just so excited to get in there and bring our best to the table and help make this place great.
