It’s easy to make an original film in Canada and get it screened in a theatre.
But there’s a catch.
You need a licence from the Copyright Office.
And you can’t just rent one of those little boxy plastic vases you find in a grocery store.
It has to be licensed by the Copyright Board of Canada, the Canadian Film Institute and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
The only way to get your movie screened at home is to buy a DVD or Blu-ray or download a free online streaming service.

How to Find Free Movies for Kids There are about a dozen websites offering free movie downloads for kids.
These include Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Crackle and many others.
You can check them out at any time of day, but some are more popular than others.
The one I’m going to focus on is Kidsflix.tv.
It’s free, and you can download the movie and watch it anytime.
The first thing you need to know is that it’s a private, public service.
It can’t be streamed, downloaded or rented.
It only has to meet certain criteria.
It must be in Canadian, English and French.
There’s a separate application for children.
The Kidsflix Kidsflix site provides a simple interface to find movies for free and for kids, in the languages they’re most commonly spoken.
It lists movies in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, with subtitles.
Kidsflix does not have a specific listing of titles in English.
There are also a few other categories for children, including comedy, drama, kids and sports.
