Aussie comedians to headline 2018 festival

Australian comedy stars who are touring Australia next month include Ben McKenzie and the boys.

The Australian Comedy Awards (ACA) will be held in Adelaide on January 30 and 31.

It will feature eight categories, including comedy, comedy drama, stand-up, comedy music, stand up comedy and live comedy.

Tickets will go on sale to the public on Friday.ACA head of comedy John Hodgman said the awards ceremony would be the first opportunity for Australian comedians to showcase their talent.

“The comedy world has been waiting for this to happen,” he said.

“It’s something we’ve always wanted to see happen in Australia.”

For some of our stand-ups to be able to showcase it is fantastic news and hopefully it will be something for a long time to come.

“McKenzie, who will be appearing in the national competition at the Australian Comedy Theatre at the same time, said he was thrilled to be heading to Adelaide to attend the awards.”

I was in a rush to get here and get it over with as quickly as possible,” he told ABC News.”

A comedy festival is something I’ve always enjoyed.

“If I could do anything, it would be to make the best of what I’m here for.”

McGregor and the Boys, who are set to headline Adelaide’s The Gabba, are currently touring the US.

The duo performed their new song, “Proud To Be Australian”, at the 2015 Australian Comedy Festival.

In September last year, the pair recorded a duet called “Wings Over The Moon”, which was featured on their new album, My Best Friend.

“There are some great comedians out there who are bringing their very best to the stage and it’s great to see the same thing happening here,” Hodgman added.
